Dark chocolate is a wonder ingredient that enhances the nutritious value of protein balls. Not only is it rich in phenylethylamine, a natural antidepressant, but it can also enhance your focus and memory, perfect for whenever you need to impress at work.
One of the benefits of dark chocolate is that it is a natural metabolism accelerator. This makes it the perfect snack before and after exercise because it will enhance your muscle's recovery and decrease fatigue.
The flavonoids found in dark chocolate are overflowing with antioxidants, which are vital for good health. These can help regulate blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
How to fix sticky or dry protein bites
You'll want every bite of your energy balls to be a soft, nutty delight. To get the right consistency, you may have to tweak the recipe here and there.
If your protein bites are too dry, you'll need to increase the amount of wet ingredients. You can add a few tablespoons of olive oil, unsalted butter, or maple syrup to your balls until you're happy with the results.
Overly sticky or wet protein bites are easily fixable. It's likely because your nut butter is too oily: you can add a teaspoon of cocoa powder or grounded nuts to your mix. Once your chocolate balls are firm enough to shape into a ball, you've achieved the perfect texture.
